Political System of Guatemala
The political system of Guatemala is a representative democracy, where the President serves as both the head of state and government. The government is divided into three branches: the executive, legislative, and judicial. The President is elected for a four-year term and cannot serve consecutive terms.
The Legislative Assembly consists of 160 members who are elected for a four-year term as well. The judicial branch is independent and includes the Supreme Court and other lower courts. Political parties play a significant role in the electoral process, and the country has a multi-party system.
