Polar Desert
A polar desert is a type of desert found in polar regions, characterized by extremely low temperatures and minimal precipitation. Unlike typical deserts, which are hot, polar deserts receive less than 250 millimeters of moisture annually, primarily in the form of snow. The most well-known polar deserts are the Antarctic Desert and the Arctic Desert.
These areas have unique ecosystems, with specially adapted plants and animals that can survive harsh conditions. The landscape often features ice, snow, and rocky terrain, making it inhospitable for most life forms. Despite the cold, some organisms, like lichens and mosses, thrive in these extreme environments.
