Pokrovsky Cathedral
Pokrovsky Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed, is a famous church located in Moscow, Russia. Built between 1555 and 1561, it was commissioned by Tsar Ivan IV to commemorate his victory over the Khanate of Kazan. The cathedral is renowned for its colorful onion domes and unique architectural design, which features a mix of Russian and Byzantine styles.
The cathedral stands in Red Square and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It consists of eight chapels arranged around a central nave, each topped with a distinct dome. Pokrovsky Cathedral is not only a significant religious site but also a symbol of Moscow and Russian culture.
