Player Efficiency Rating
Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is a basketball statistic that measures a player's overall contribution to their team while on the court. Developed by John Hollinger, PER takes into account various performance metrics, including points, rebounds, assists, steals, and turnovers, to provide a single number that reflects a player's effectiveness.
The scale of PER is set so that the league average is always 15. A higher PER indicates a more efficient player, while a lower PER suggests less effectiveness. This metric helps coaches, analysts, and fans evaluate players' performances and compare them across different games and seasons.
