A plasma display is a type of flat-panel screen used primarily in televisions and computer monitors. It works by using small cells filled with gas that, when electrically charged, produce plasma. This plasma emits ultraviolet light, which then excites phosphors on the screen to create vibrant colors and images.
Plasma displays are known for their excellent color accuracy and wide viewing angles. However, they are generally heavier and consume more power than other display technologies like LCD or LED. Despite their advantages, plasma displays have largely been replaced by these newer technologies in the consumer market.
