Plains Cree
The Plains Cree are a group of Indigenous peoples in Canada, primarily residing in the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. They are part of the larger Cree nation, known for their rich cultural heritage, language, and traditions. The Plains Cree traditionally lived in the grasslands and relied on hunting, particularly bison, for sustenance.
The Plains Cree speak the Cree language, which has several dialects, including the Plains Cree dialect. Their social structure is organized around extended families and clans, and they have a deep spiritual connection to the land. Today, many Plains Cree continue to practice their traditions while also engaging in modern society.
