Pitangus
Pitangus is a genus of birds commonly known as the tyrant flycatchers. These birds are primarily found in the Americas, particularly in regions ranging from the southern United States to South America. They are known for their distinctive vocalizations and their ability to catch insects in mid-air, making them effective hunters.
The most recognized species within this genus is the Great Kiskadee, which is easily identifiable by its striking yellow belly and bold black and white head. Pitangus birds typically inhabit open areas, such as fields and wetlands, and are often seen perched on fences or low branches, watching for prey.
