Pioneer 1
Pioneer 1 was an American spacecraft launched on October 11, 1958, as part of the Pioneer program. Its primary mission was to study the Moon and gather data about its environment. Although it failed to achieve lunar orbit, it provided valuable information about cosmic rays and the Earth's radiation belts.
The spacecraft was equipped with scientific instruments, including a magnetometer and a cosmic ray detector. Pioneer 1's mission lasted about 43 hours before it re-entered the Earth's atmosphere. Despite its short operational life, it marked an important step in space exploration and paved the way for future missions to the Moon.
