Pinene
Pinene is a natural organic compound classified as a terpene, commonly found in the essential oils of various plants, particularly in pine trees. It has two isomers: α-pinene and β-pinene, both of which contribute to the characteristic scent of pine forests. Pinene is often used in the production of fragrances, cleaning products, and as a flavoring agent in food.
In addition to its aromatic properties, pinene is known for its potential therapeutic benefits. It may possess anti-inflammatory, bronchodilator, and antimicrobial effects, making it a subject of interest in both aromatherapy and phytotherapy. Its presence in cannabis also contributes to the overall effects and aroma of certain strains.
