Phosphides
Phosphides are chemical compounds that consist of phosphorus and a more electropositive element, such as a metal. They typically have the general formula MX, where M represents the metal and X is phosphorus. Phosphides can be found in various forms, including binary phosphides, which contain only phosphorus and one other element, and complex phosphides, which may include additional elements.
These compounds are often used in various industrial applications, including the production of semiconductors and as catalysts in chemical reactions. Some phosphides, like Aluminum Phosphide, are also known for their use as fumigants in agriculture, helping to control pests in stored grains.
