Philippine Tarsier
The Philippine Tarsier is a small primate native to the Philippines, known for its large eyes and unique appearance. It belongs to the family Tarsiidae and is one of the smallest primates in the world, measuring about 4 to 6 inches in length. Tarsiers are nocturnal, primarily feeding on insects and small vertebrates, using their excellent night vision to hunt.
These creatures are found in various habitats, including forests and grasslands, particularly on the islands of Bohol, Leyte, Mindanao, and Samar. The Philippine Tarsier is an important part of the ecosystem, helping to control insect populations. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect their natural habitats from deforestation and human encroachment.
