Philip Kearny was a prominent American general during the American Civil War. Born on June 2, 1815, in New York City, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Kearny was known for his bravery and leadership, particularly in battles such as the Battle of Chantilly and the Battle of Gettysburg. Kearny served in the Mexican-American War before the Civil War, where he earned a reputation for his tactical skills. He was a key figure in the Army of the Potomac and was respected by his peers. Tragically, Kearny was killed in action on September 1, 1862, at the Battle of Chantilly.
