Philadelphia Athletics
The Philadelphia Athletics were a professional baseball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1901, they were a charter member of the American League. The team was known for its early success, winning five World Series championships between 1910 and 1930.
In 1954, the Athletics relocated to Kansas City, becoming the Kansas City Athletics. The team struggled in its new location and eventually moved again to Oakland, California in 1968, where they became the Oakland Athletics. The original Philadelphia franchise is remembered for its contributions to baseball history and its notable players.
