Phaethontidae
Phaethontidae is a family of birds commonly known as sunbirds or tropicbirds. They are characterized by their long tails, slender bodies, and vibrant plumage. These birds are primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions, often near coastal areas.
The family includes two genera: Phaethon, which contains the three species of tropicbirds, and Phaethon rubricauda, known for its striking red tail feathers. Phaethontidae are excellent fliers, capable of soaring gracefully over the ocean. They primarily feed on fish and other marine organisms, diving from the air to catch their prey.
