Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert Stethem
Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert Stethem was a member of the United States Navy who served as a diver and a member of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion. He was born on July 17, 1961, in Bethesda, Maryland, and joined the Navy in 1979. Stethem was known for his dedication and commitment to his duties.
Tragically, Stethem was killed on June 15, 1985, during the hijacking of TWA Flight 847. His bravery and sacrifice were recognized, and he was posthumously awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. Stethem's legacy continues to be honored by the Navy and his family.
