Pershing II
The Pershing II was a type of intermediate-range ballistic missile developed by the United States during the Cold War. It was designed to carry nuclear warheads and had a range of approximately 1,800 kilometers. The missile was part of the U.S. military's response to the deployment of the Soviet SS-20 missile system in Europe.
Introduced in the early 1980s, the Pershing II featured advanced guidance systems that allowed for greater accuracy compared to earlier models. Its deployment in Europe was a significant factor in the negotiations that led to the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in 1987, which aimed to eliminate such missiles from both the U.S. and Soviet arsenals.
