People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran
The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), also known as the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), is an Iranian political-militant organization founded in 1965. Initially established to oppose the Shah's regime, it later became a prominent group during the Iranian Revolution of 1979. The PMOI advocates for a democratic, secular Iran and has been involved in various forms of resistance against the current Iranian government.
The organization has faced significant controversy, including being designated as a terrorist group by some countries in the past. However, it has since been removed from these lists in several places, including the European Union and the United States. The PMOI operates from exile, primarily in Albania, and continues to campaign for human rights and political change in Iran.
