Pedro I of Castile
Pedro I of Castile, also known as Pedro the Cruel, was the King of Castile from 1350 until his death in 1369. He was born in 1334 and became known for his harsh rule and conflicts with the nobility. His reign was marked by political instability and struggles for power, particularly with his half-brother, Henry II of Castile.
Despite his reputation for cruelty, Pedro I was also a patron of the arts and culture. He sought to strengthen the monarchy and centralize power, which led to significant tensions with the feudal lords. His life ended in a violent conflict, ultimately leading to his defeat and death at the hands of Henry II.
