Pediculus Humanus
Pediculus humanus is a species of louse that infests humans. It is divided into two main types: Pediculus humanus capitis, which lives on the scalp, and Pediculus humanus corporis, which resides on clothing and skin. These tiny, wingless insects feed on human blood and can cause itching and discomfort.
Infestations of Pediculus humanus are commonly known as lice. They are spread through close contact with an infested person or by sharing personal items like hats and combs. While lice do not transmit diseases, they can lead to secondary infections from scratching.
