Pedicularis
Pedicularis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Orobanchaceae, commonly known as the broomrape family. These plants are often found in temperate regions and are characterized by their unique, tubular flowers that can be red, yellow, or purple. They typically grow in meadows, grasslands, and alpine environments.
Many species of Pedicularis are hemiparasitic, meaning they can photosynthesize but also draw nutrients from the roots of nearby plants. This adaptation allows them to thrive in nutrient-poor soils. Some species are also valued for their medicinal properties and are used in traditional herbal remedies.
