Pathologic Fracture
A pathologic fracture is a broken bone that occurs due to an underlying medical condition, rather than from a typical injury or trauma. This type of fracture often results from diseases that weaken the bone, such as osteoporosis, cancer, or infection.
Unlike regular fractures, pathologic fractures can happen with minimal or no force, making them a sign of a more serious health issue. Diagnosis usually involves imaging tests like X-rays or MRI, and treatment may include addressing the underlying condition, along with stabilizing the fracture through methods such as surgery or bracing.
