Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) is a common knee condition characterized by pain around the patella, or kneecap. It often occurs due to overuse, muscle imbalances, or improper alignment of the knee joint. Activities that involve bending the knee, such as running, squatting, or climbing stairs, can exacerbate the pain.
Symptoms of PFPS typically include a dull ache in the front of the knee, especially during physical activities. Treatment often involves rest, physical therapy, and strengthening exercises to improve the alignment and function of the knee. In some cases, using orthotic devices or modifying activities may also help alleviate symptoms.
