Passion Plays
Passion Plays are dramatic performances that depict the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These plays are often staged during the Holy Week leading up to Easter and aim to convey the emotional and spiritual significance of the events in the Christian faith.
Typically performed by local communities, Passion Plays can vary in length and style, ranging from simple reenactments to elaborate productions with costumes and music. One of the most famous is the Oberammergau Passion Play in Germany, which has been performed since 1634 and attracts thousands of visitors every decade.
