Parapraxes
Parapraxes, often referred to as "Freudian slips," are errors in speech, memory, or action that reveal unconscious thoughts or feelings. These mistakes can occur when a person accidentally says something different from what they intended, often reflecting hidden desires or conflicts. The term is rooted in the work of Sigmund Freud, who believed that these slips provide insight into the individual's psyche.
Common examples of parapraxes include mispronouncing a word or mistakenly using the wrong name in conversation. While they may seem trivial, these errors can offer valuable clues about a person's underlying emotions or unresolved issues, highlighting the complex relationship between language and the unconscious mind.
