Paracas Culture
The Paracas Culture was an ancient civilization that thrived on the southern coast of Peru from around 800 BCE to 100 CE. Known for their advanced textile production, the Paracas people created intricate fabrics using vibrant colors and complex patterns. They also practiced advanced agricultural techniques, allowing them to cultivate crops in the arid coastal environment.
One of the most notable aspects of the Paracas Culture is their burial practices. They mummified their dead and placed them in elaborate tombs, often accompanied by rich grave goods. The Paracas Necropolis is a famous archaeological site that has revealed many of these mummies and artifacts, providing insight into their beliefs and daily life.
