Papilio
Papilio is a genus of butterflies commonly known as swallowtails. They are characterized by their large size, vibrant colors, and distinctive tail-like extensions on their hindwings. These butterflies are found in various habitats around the world, including forests, gardens, and wetlands.
Swallowtails are known for their unique life cycle, which includes four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly. The caterpillars often have striking patterns and colors that help them blend into their surroundings, providing camouflage from predators. Many species within the Papilio genus are also important pollinators.
