Pangolins
Pangolins are unique mammals known for their protective keratin scales, which cover their bodies. They are nocturnal and primarily feed on ants and termites, using their long, sticky tongues to capture their prey. There are eight species of pangolins, found across Africa and Asia.
These animals are often referred to as "scaly anteaters" due to their diet and appearance. Unfortunately, pangolins are critically endangered because of illegal wildlife trade, as their scales are highly sought after in traditional medicine and for their meat. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these fascinating creatures.
