Pamunkey Tribe
The Pamunkey Tribe is a Native American tribe located in Virginia, recognized as one of the original tribes of the Powhatan Confederacy. They have a rich history that dates back thousands of years, with their ancestral lands situated along the Pamunkey River. The tribe has maintained its cultural heritage through traditional practices, language, and community events.
In 2016, the Pamunkey Tribe received federal recognition, allowing them to establish a government-to-government relationship with the United States. This recognition has enabled the tribe to pursue economic development opportunities, including plans for a casino and other ventures to support their community and preserve their cultural identity.
