Pallasites
Pallasites are a rare type of stony-iron meteorite, primarily composed of olivine crystals embedded in a nickel-iron matrix. They are believed to originate from the core-mantle boundary of differentiated asteroids, where the metallic core and silicate mantle meet. This unique composition gives pallasites their striking appearance, often featuring bright green or yellow olivine crystals.
These meteorites are named after the German scientist Peter Pallas, who first described them in the 18th century. Pallasites are highly sought after by collectors and researchers due to their beauty and the insights they provide into the formation of celestial bodies in our solar system.
