Palawa Kani
Palawa Kani is a constructed language created to revive and preserve the cultural heritage of the Palawa people, the Indigenous inhabitants of Tasmania. It combines elements from the various languages spoken by the Palawa and other Tasmanian Aboriginal groups, drawing on historical records and linguistic research.
The language was developed in the 1990s and is used in educational programs and cultural initiatives to promote awareness of Tasmanian Aboriginal identity. Palawa Kani serves as a tool for cultural revitalization, helping younger generations connect with their ancestry and traditions through language.
