Languages of Australia
Australia is home to a rich diversity of languages, with over 250 languages spoken across the country. The most widely spoken language is English, which serves as the primary language for the majority of the population. However, many Indigenous languages, such as Pitjantjatjara and Yolŋu Matha, are also spoken, reflecting the cultural heritage of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In addition to Indigenous languages, Australia has a variety of immigrant languages due to its multicultural society. Languages such as Mandarin, Italian, and Greek are commonly spoken among immigrant communities. This linguistic diversity highlights Australia's unique cultural landscape and the importance of preserving both Indigenous and immigrant languages.
