Palaeologus Dynasty
The Palaeologus Dynasty was a Byzantine imperial family that ruled from 1261 to 1453. It was established when Michael VIII Palaeologus recaptured Constantinople from the Latin Empire, restoring the Byzantine Empire. The dynasty faced numerous challenges, including territorial losses and internal strife, but it also saw a cultural revival during the Renaissance.
The Palaeologus rulers were known for their efforts to strengthen the empire and maintain its Orthodox Christian identity. However, the dynasty ultimately fell to the Ottoman Empire in 1453, marking the end of Byzantine rule and a significant shift in the region's history.
