Packet Forwarding
Packet Forwarding is the process of directing data packets from one network device to another. When data is sent over the internet, it is broken down into smaller units called packets. Each packet contains information about its destination, allowing routers to determine the best path for it to travel.
Routers use routing tables and protocols to make forwarding decisions. As packets arrive at a router, it examines the destination address and forwards them to the next hop in the network. This process continues until the packets reach their final destination, ensuring efficient communication across the internet.
