Pacaya
Pacaya is an active volcano located in Guatemala, approximately 30 kilometers south of the capital city, Guatemala City. It stands at about 2,552 meters (8,373 feet) above sea level and is part of the Central American Volcanic Arc. Known for its frequent eruptions, Pacaya has been a popular destination for tourists and hikers who want to experience its unique volcanic landscape.
The volcano's most recent significant eruption occurred in 2021, producing lava flows and ash plumes. Visitors can hike to the summit, where they can witness the stunning views and, at times, the glowing lava. The surrounding area is also rich in biodiversity, making it an important ecological site.
