PT-109
PT-109 was a patrol torpedo boat used by the United States Navy during World War II. It is best known for its involvement in a famous incident in August 1943, when it was rammed by a Japanese destroyer in the Solomon Islands. The collision resulted in the sinking of the boat, leading to a dramatic survival story for its crew.
The boat was commanded by John F. Kennedy, who later became the 35th President of the United States. After the sinking, Kennedy and several crew members swam to a nearby island, where they were eventually rescued. The story of PT-109 became a symbol of bravery and leadership.
