Overbite
An overbite is a dental condition where the upper front teeth overlap the lower front teeth when the mouth is closed. This misalignment can occur due to various factors, including genetics, thumb sucking, or prolonged use of pacifiers during childhood. An overbite is measured in percentage, with a normal range being around 2-4 millimeters.
While a mild overbite may not cause significant issues, a severe overbite can lead to problems such as jaw pain, difficulty chewing, and increased wear on teeth. Treatment options for an overbite include braces, clear aligners, or in some cases, surgery. Regular dental check-ups can help monitor and manage this condition effectively.
