Otto von Guericke
Otto von Guericke was a German scientist and politician born in 1602. He is best known for his pioneering work in the field of vacuum technology. Guericke invented the Magdeburg hemispheres, a demonstration that showcased the power of atmospheric pressure by creating a vacuum between two large metal hemispheres.
In addition to his experiments with vacuums, Guericke served as the mayor of Magdeburg and contributed to the development of early physics. His work laid the foundation for future studies in thermodynamics and gas laws, influencing scientists like Robert Boyle and Isaac Newton.
