Osteochondroma
Osteochondroma is a benign bone tumor that typically develops during childhood or adolescence. It consists of a cartilage-capped bony growth that usually forms near the ends of long bones, particularly around the knee and shoulder. While most osteochondromas are asymptomatic, they can sometimes cause pain or discomfort if they press against nearby tissues.
These tumors are generally considered non-cancerous and often do not require treatment unless they lead to complications. In rare cases, an osteochondroma can transform into a malignant tumor, making regular monitoring important. Surgical removal may be necessary if the growth causes significant issues or changes.
