Osoto Gari
Osoto Gari is a fundamental throwing technique in Judo, designed to take an opponent off balance and bring them to the ground. The name translates to "large outer reap," which describes the action of sweeping one leg out from under the opponent while using body weight to execute the throw.
To perform Osoto Gari, the practitioner steps to the side of their opponent, grips their collar or sleeve, and uses their leg to hook behind the opponent's far leg. This movement creates a powerful leverage effect, allowing the judoka to effectively throw their opponent onto their back.
