Orkhon inscriptions
The Orkhon inscriptions are a series of ancient Turkic inscriptions found in the Orkhon Valley of Mongolia. Dating back to the 8th century, they are among the earliest known examples of written Turkic language. The inscriptions commemorate the achievements of the Göktürk Khaganate and provide valuable insights into the culture, politics, and beliefs of early Turkic peoples.
These inscriptions are carved on stone monuments and include texts that honor important leaders, such as Bilge Khagan and Kül Tigin. They are significant for understanding the history of Central Asia and the development of the Turkic script, influencing later Turkic languages and cultures.
