Order of the Iron Crown
The Order of the Iron Crown is a historic chivalric order established in 1805 by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. It was created to honor military and civil merit, particularly in the Kingdom of Italy. The order's name refers to the Iron Crown of Lombardy, a significant symbol of royal authority in the region.
Members of the Order of the Iron Crown were awarded a distinctive insignia, which features a crown and a cross. The order was dissolved in 1814 after the fall of Napoleon, but it was later revived in 1831 by the Austrian Empire and continued to recognize contributions to the state until its final dissolution in 1946.
