Order Of The Dannebrog
The Order of the Dannebrog is a Danish royal order of chivalry established in 1693 by King Christian V. It is named after the Dannebrog, the national flag of Denmark, which is believed to have fallen from the sky during a battle in 1219. The order is awarded for significant contributions to Denmark and its society.
Membership in the Order is typically granted to Danish citizens and foreign nationals who have rendered exceptional service. The order has several classes, with the highest being the Grand Cross. Recipients receive a medal and are entitled to use the order's insignia in their titles.
