Operation Tempest
Operation Tempest was a major military campaign conducted by the Polish resistance during World War II, specifically in 1944. Its primary goal was to liberate Poland from German occupation as the Soviet Red Army advanced westward. The operation involved coordinated uprisings in various cities, with the most notable being the Warsaw Uprising.
The operation aimed to establish a Polish government before the Soviets could take control. However, it faced significant challenges, including lack of support from the Allies and overwhelming German forces. Ultimately, the uprisings were suppressed, leading to severe consequences for the Polish population and the destruction of many cities.
