Operation Mekong
"Operation Mekong" was a significant anti-drug operation launched in 2011 by the Chinese government in response to the rising drug trafficking activities along the Mekong River. This operation aimed to enhance security and cooperation among Southeast Asian countries, targeting drug cartels and their networks.
The operation was initiated after the tragic incident known as the Mekong River massacre, where 13 Chinese sailors were killed by drug traffickers. It involved joint patrols, intelligence sharing, and law enforcement collaboration among China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand to combat the drug trade and improve regional stability.
