Operation Crusader
Operation Crusader was a military campaign during World War II, launched by the British Eighth Army in November 1941. Its primary goal was to relieve the besieged city of Tobruk in Libya and to push back the Axis forces led by General Erwin Rommel. The operation involved a series of battles and maneuvers aimed at disrupting enemy supply lines and regaining control of the region.
The campaign lasted until December 1941 and included significant engagements such as the Battle of Sidi Rezegh. Despite initial successes, the operation faced challenges, including supply issues and fierce resistance from the Afrika Korps. Ultimately, Operation Crusader succeeded in lifting the siege of Tobruk, but the overall strategic situation in North Africa remained complex.
