OpenSolaris
OpenSolaris is an open-source operating system based on the Solaris platform developed by Sun Microsystems. It was designed to provide a robust and scalable environment for developers and system administrators, featuring advanced technologies like the ZFS file system and the DTrace performance analysis tool.
The project aimed to foster community collaboration and innovation, allowing users to modify and distribute the software freely. Although OpenSolaris was discontinued in 2010, its legacy continues through various derivatives, such as Illumos, which carry forward its core features and principles.
