Ontario Municipal Board
The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) was an independent tribunal in Ontario, Canada, that resolved disputes related to land use planning and municipal matters. It provided a forum for individuals, developers, and municipalities to appeal decisions made by local councils regarding zoning, official plans, and other planning issues.
In 2017, the OMB was replaced by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) as part of reforms aimed at improving the planning process. The LPAT focuses on ensuring that local voices are heard in planning decisions while still providing a mechanism for appeals when necessary.
