Onesimus
Onesimus was a slave in the household of Philemon, a Christian leader in the city of Colossae. He ran away from Philemon and eventually encountered the Apostle Paul while Paul was imprisoned. During this time, Onesimus converted to Christianity and became a valuable companion to Paul.
Paul wrote a letter to Philemon, urging him to forgive Onesimus and accept him back not just as a slave, but as a brother in Christ. This letter, known as the Epistle to Philemon, emphasizes themes of forgiveness, reconciliation, and the transformative power of faith.
