Omani government
The Omani government operates as an absolute monarchy, with the Sultan serving as both the head of state and the head of government. The current Sultan, Haitham bin Tariq, ascended to the throne in January 2020, following the death of his cousin, Sultan Qaboos. The Sultan has significant powers, including the ability to issue royal decrees and appoint ministers.
Oman has a consultative assembly known as the Majlis al-Shura, which consists of elected members who advise the Sultan on various issues. While the assembly has limited legislative power, it plays a role in representing the interests of the Omani people and discussing national matters.
