Olkiluoto 2
Olkiluoto 2 is a nuclear power plant located in Finland, specifically on the Olkiluoto island. It is one of two reactors at the site, operated by Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO). The reactor began commercial operation in 2003 and has a net electrical output of approximately 890 megawatts, contributing significantly to Finland's energy supply.
The plant uses pressurized water reactor (PWR) technology, which is common in many nuclear facilities worldwide. Olkiluoto 2 plays a crucial role in reducing Finland's reliance on fossil fuels and helps meet the country's energy needs while aiming for lower carbon emissions.
